Barcelona was built over the last two millennia through the effort and hard work of its inhabitants. On our Free Gothic Tour of Barcelona you will go through the whole history of the city, from the Roman Barcino to contemporary Barcelona.

Walk through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter, one of the best-preserved old towns in Europe. Marvel at the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia and then compare it with the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, built by the people for the people of Barcelona in 53 years! Explore the Born District, discover through many street names how the city was organized in gilds in medieval times, and where the jousts took place.

Enjoy the magnificence of the Old Town, and the Temple of Augustus. Understand through the Roman Walls how Barcelona adapts to the passing of time and manages to remain on the cutting edge of architecture due to the way locals restored the buildings, by reconstructing them rather than demolishing them.

On this Free Gothic Tour of Barcelona you will understand through a fun journey through its history why it has become one of the most visited cities in the world!

Must-have for Barcelona

5 out of 5

I came to Barcelona alone and was searching for guided tours just to get a first impression of the city. I found first the "old town tour" and really enjoyed it. Our guide Mariella was amazing. She told us many facts about the history but in a very easygoing manner. She put jokes in between. So it was both: informative and fun! I highly recommend this tour and Mariella as a guide!

Great history lesson

5 out of 5

We were recommended to take this tour and so glad we did. We were partnered with Eric (a proud Dubliner) and another couple from the Ukraine and were treated to a splendid 2-hour walk around the Gothic quarter with a great history lesson. We would thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting a little bit of extra knowledge about a truly remarkable city.
