We were lucky enough to have Ari as our Guide for the second time. He’s such a warm-hearted and funny guy with so much passion for his city!
The tour was so nice and interesting with a visit to the Mercado, so many historical facts about the area and historical personalities and places.
We highly recommend to take this tour!

I felt on this tour that there was a whole lot of walking and not a huge amount of information imparted .
Come and discover the most bohemian side of Mexico City on the Free Coyoacan Tour. This colorful and beautiful neighborhood is one of the kinds of places which seem immune to the passing of time. Since the Spanish ‘conquistador’ Hernan Cortes arrived here back in the 16th century, up until today, it has been home to some of the most interesting characters in Mexican history. Artists, writers, poets, film directors, actors or intellectuals from all periods could not resist its unique charm. So, leave behind the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city and go for a walk around this peaceful neighborhood filled with tradition and voices which sound today just like echoes of yesterday.
Explore its plazas and cobblestoned streets built in colonial style, and admire the scenery found amongst studios dedicated to dance, pottery, photography or art, as well as gorgeous 16th-century churches like the church of St. John The Baptist, a symbol of the beautiful Novo-Hispanic Baroque style. Enjoy the succulent flavors of Mexico in Coyoacan Market, one of its most important icons. Navigate through Mexico’s history, from colonial times up until today, and learn about the interesting movement of Mexicanism which represents a reconnection with Mexico’s pre-Hispanic roots. Hear all the details of the life of this movement’s most important protagonist, Frida Kahlo, Mexico’s most universal and well-known artist, who, of course, lived in Coyoacan for most of her life.
Coyoacan also reflects Mexico’s revolutionary character, which is essential in understanding the country’s idiosyncrasy, as it was here, near Frida Kahlo’s house, where Leon Trotsky lived in exile. An exile which unfortunately did not place him safely beyond Stalin’s reach, as he was assassinated here in 1940. During the tour, please feel free to ask your guide as many questions as you need; you can be sure that they’ll be more than happy to answer them. You’ll also get plenty of recommendations on where to enjoy the best food this neighborhood has to offer! On the Coyoacan Free Tour you will discover the eternal character of Mexico: Colorful, beautiful, artistic, cozy, charming and with a history filled with heated revolutions and tragic idealism.
