Free Historical Centre Tour of Lisbon
When: Every day
Language: English & Spanish
Duration: 2,5 hours
Discover the true city of light, Portugal’s capital: Lisbon, magnificent and unrivaled. Learn about the enigmas that surround one of the most ancient cities in the Old Continent. Founded by the Phoenicians, its merchant nature enabled this city, located in the western Iberian Peninsula, to become the richest in the world during the 16th Century. Stroll down the magical ruas full of trams, and contemplate the majestic temples that are found throughout the city, such as the Igreja de São Domingos, which was burnt to the ground and is now believed to be cursed as a result of the tragic massacre suffered by the Hebrew people during the year of 1506. Contemplate the Carmo Convent, where you’ll witness the devastating effects of the biggest earthquake of 1755, as you take a look at its ruins. On our Free Historical Centre Tour of Lisbon, you’ll receive the key to discovering the capital’s essence – a city that, like the mythical phoenix, reached its peak during the Imperial Era, fell to disgrace and then brilliantly resurrected from its ashes to become the fascinating and limitless metropolis that we all know and love. This tour will be operated by our local partners in Lisbon.
