We had a great tour of Triana with our guide Alejandra. We had a nice group of about 8 and we explored an area of the city well worth knowing. Alejandra's stories and history brought the area alive and we are glad we took the tour. Definitely recommend.

If Seville is the heart of Andalusia, Triana is its soul. Sitting majestically on the western bank of the Guadalquivir River, Triana is a district steeped in layers of intricate history, dating back to its Islamic roots as the city's first ‘arrabal’ or suburb. Flamenco, that intoxicating dance that defines Andalusia, has its spiritual home here, influenced by a complex tapestry of Gypsy, Moorish, and Jewish cultures. Triana was not just a melting pot but a crucible where these cultures were fired and fused. It became the incubator of the flamenco genre that reached its zenith in the 20th century, before the Romani community was regrettably expelled. Artisanal crafts are another cultural landmark of Triana, with pottery and ceramic workshops that owe their existence to the district's rich clay deposits. The Free Triana Tour is the key to unlocking these precious cultural experiences with a friendly local guide.

The Free Triana Tour takes you for a stroll along all the must-see landmarks, while you also discover the stories and legends that shaped this historic area. Get ready to enjoy the amazing views from Betis Street, a riverside promenade offering unparalleled views of the Guadalquivir River. But it's not just scenic beauty; this street encapsulates Triana's maritime history, reminding tourists of the days when sailors from this very district set forth on expeditions to the New World. As you saunter down Pureza Street, you'll find the 13th-century Church of Santa Ana, built by Alfonso X and often considered the oldest church in Seville. The Sailors' Chapel nearby is the headquarters of the Esperanza de Triana brotherhood, a linchpin of the district's religious life and a shining example of how guilds influenced Triana's social fabric for centuries.

But that’s not all! The Triana Market offers an irresistible invitation to discover the local flavors. But there's a twist—the market was once the site of San Jorge Castle, which functioned as the Inquisition tribunal in Seville for several long, dark centuries. You even pass by Inquisition Alley, a small lane that eerily reminds you of the area's turbulent past. But the tour wouldn't be complete without a stroll across Isabel II Bridge, commonly referred to as the Triana Bridge. Built in the 19th century, this iron beauty replaces a series of boats that once connected Triana to the rest of Seville. As you take in the views from this engineering marvel, you're not just looking at Seville; you're looking at history stretched out before you. So, what are you waiting for? Take the Free Triana Tour and enjoy the soul of Andalusia!
