Visitors will find it situated in a picturesque plaza in the historic center of Asuncion, where the tour will focus. As you wander around, your guide will give you an introduction to the origins of the city as part of the Spanish Empire to being one of the first countries in South America to declare independence from Spain.

The Essential Free Tour Asuncion will take you along the historic streets of Asuncion where you will come across the gorgeous Old Train Station where you will be transported back to the romantic heyday of train travel. A short walk from here is the National Pantheon of Heroes, an incredible mausoleum dedicated to Paraguayan heroes, as well as the tomb of the unknown soldier. Here, guests will learn of the tragic wars that Paraguay has suffered and the importance of commemorating the fallen. Among the most important highlights of the tour is Lopez Palace, one of the most impressive buildings in the city. This stunning example of neoclassical architecture took over 100 years to complete!
