After an introduction to the basic rituals and beliefs in Luang Prabang, your small group will make their way to other highlights, such as Wat Sensoukarahm (once home to many famous monks and dignitaries), and the beautiful bronze Buddhas of Wat Xieng Muan (known for being one of the oldest monasteries in Laos). You will learn how King Setthathirath transformed Laos in the 16th century – turning Luang Prabang into a flourishing center for spirituality, learning and trade. Along your free tour in Luang Prabang, you might also approach the gardens at the hilltop complex of Wat Tham Phu Si, walk the winding paths of Phousi Hill and dive into the most authentic Laotian culture at Dara Market – where you can purchase souvenirs, or try out some delicious street snacks and drinks served up by friendly locals.
