With its labyrinth of streets and ancient city walls, when it comes to Maltese history, it doesn’t get much better than Mdina.
Silent City, Noble City… Malta’s former capital of Mdina has held many nicknames throughout its 4,000-year history, yet its streets and historic architecture have remained the same – so much so that they almost seem trapped in time.
With a history dating even as far back as the Bronze Age, Mdina was actually Malta’s first citadel capital, and its 16th to 18th century walls help make it one of the most uniquely fortified cities on the planet.
If you’re searching around for a walking tour to help introduce you to Malta’s historic hilltop jewel, there are many different walking tours to choose from ranging from €20 to no cost at all.
