On our Free Peace & Violence Tour we will unravel the violent history of the nation, from its bloody origins in the war of Independence, to its fratricidal conflicts in the 20th century.
Hear ferocious episodes of the Independence War in front of the Memorial to the Heroes of the Independence. Learn about “el Bogotazo,” which lead to the decade known as “La Violencia“.
Visit the Palace of Justice which was under siege in 1985 from the Guerrilla M19, and learn the role that Pablo Escobar, the world’s most famous narco and leader of the Medellín Cartel, played in it. Understand the complicated relationship between the guerrillas and narcos, how they depend upon each other to survive yet have such opposed ideologies.
On our Peace & Violence Tour we will show you all the ingredients that have made Colombia the birthplace of a new science brutally named violentology. But we will also show you the effort which has taken place to solve the problem, opening up new horizons of hope and prosperity for a country that despite its determination to self-destroy, is today very close to peace and gazes upon the future with renewed optimism.

We had a lovely time during the tour. We were only a small group but that made it even better I think, because now we could chat a lot about the things she was explaining. Especially the adding of the photo exhibitions gave the tour an extra element. We enjoyed the way Catalina vividly told her story about Bogota, and we will defintely do another tour with her!
